A few years ago, I had this idea of drawing ‘future faces’, or 'transhuman' portraits of people from the future using mixed race models. I can intellectualize it but really, I think I just really, really like the movie Akira.

My first attempt at this concept was so difficult that I pretty much had to abandon the idea for a while.

For this portrait, I drew it at a much more modest size. The original photo was taken four years ago, with the help of Science World.
